Art Journel Entry – Paint Party Friday

I’ve finally picked up my art journal and created a feast – thanks to titbelsoeur for the inspiration! I started with a placemat designed by Elena Vladykina/Ruth Levison, started stamping away – and then added printed paper and tissue paper. I probably could do some more (and maybe will later) but wanted to share with Paint Party Friday, Creative Every Day and Sunday Sketches. You can click on the small photos and see them in gallery size.

Paint Party Friday sketch

Here is a sketch from a still life of mums and a big flower that may be a sunflower (not sure). I’m posting two pieces here:  The first picture is a combination of my original sketch and some digital artwork. The second one is the original, as is. Feedback welcome! Which do you like best? Paint Party Friday is Here Again – and Orange You Glad It’s Friday!

First off, I’d like to thank all my blogger friends who have visited my blog!  I really appreciate it and it inspires me more and more to create something, art, poetry, or just sharing a meme with others of like mind.  And especial thanks to those who have written comments – and know that I appreciate each and every comment, suggestion or praise!  Back in 2008-2009 I had two blogs and no one to share them with.  I don’t know if it was because I didn’t understand how to network or whether blogger just didn’t have the technology that WordPress has now.    Suffice it to say, I’m doubly appreciative to have finally connected with the rest of the blogging world!  It is very exciting and uplifting  to be able to  connect with So many wonderfully talented people who enjoy writing and sharing their worlds with others.

Today I am sharing the latest entry in my art journal with Paint Party Friday and Creative Every Day. The artwork today is a collage created with tissue paper, labels, medium/varnish and markers. It’s finished Except I will probably go over the scriptural verse with some color or collage a thin tissue of color over it. I think it needs to blend more with the picture. Any ideas?

And I’m also sharing this with Sunday Sketches. I’m working on the text box still but figured it would be better if I shared this with SS now and show the finished artwork next week.  (A few times when I went to link with Sunday Sketches it was too late, the link was already closed – so disappointing!)

This is one of Arizona’s splendiferous sunsets, being shared with Orange You Glad Its Friday.

Paint Party Post – Art Journal continued

Day four since starting my art journal.    I’m pretty satisfied with this drawing.  Drawing #2 I used watercolor pencils and the page buckled quite a bit, so in the future I think I’ll stick to drier mediums in this journal.  Drawing #3 was a charcoal doodle.   I really want to do some collaging, stamping and such, just hate to drag all my art supplies out again.  Especially since we are expecting company second week in October and my art room is a disaster!  I mean, it looks like an earthquake hit and shook everything in the room all over the place.  But, not to worry, as my husband used to tell me: “it really isn’t as bad as it looks”.   I’m sharing this with Paint Party Friday and Creative Every Day.

I need to get some fixative for charcoal drawings – or doodles such as this, because they sure mess up anything they come in contact with.

As you can see, the paper is all rumpled  – and that is just with a  little water.     I had planned on having a smooth background, not streaks, but figured  to stop before the paper was a total mess!  Oh, and I just bought  what I think is a new product by Crayola – colored glue and  two-toned spiral glitter glue stick.  I found it handy to spread around the cut-outs to firmly hold the edges plus put a little sparkle on the page.
